FOODSHARE

open tues-fri, 10am - 3pm

At St. Andrew's we have a community Foodshare program. This program takes place at the rear of the driveway to the left of our Op Shop. It is open from Tuesday to Friday, between 10 a.m. and  3 p.m. although closed over Christmas. It is totally volunteer run, and the volunteers make up and distribute food parcels to local community members experiencing food insecurity.

Each food parcel contains the essentials such as bread, milk, cereal and pasta as well as tinned goods. On a fortnightly basis we get a small delivery from Food Bank which help us out with these items, and weekly we collect items from Food Relief North Geelong who supply us with fruits and vegetables to give to our customers.

Our Foodshare service is a free service we provide, if you are a Centrelink Card Holder, and live within our service range (Corio, North Shore, Bell Post Hill, Lovely Banks, some of North Geelong) you are eligible for a food parcel on a monthly basis.

We allow x1 Food Parcel per household per month, if you live with other people, only one person can collect per household.

Our Foodshare program has existed for more than 20 years now, and has always relied on our own funds and fundraising efforts, as well as donations from locals and our Church. We are always seeking new donors, particularly if you grow your own produce, or have chickens for eggs, etc.

DONATE FOOD

If you would like to donate food to the Foodshare program, you are welcome to visit and bring the food along during our opening hours. Or, alternatively you can give us a call or email, and we can arrange a day/time.

BECOME A VOLUNTEER

We are proud to be a Host for 'Work For The Dole' participant activities. Throughout the year we get a few WFD participants, but ALWAYS welcome new interested volunteers.

Please contact us to arrange an interview and trial period, we'd love more hands on deck!

DONATE FUNDS

If you cannot donate food or your time, but would like to help us out, we graciously accept monetary donations.

The best method for us is a gift card delivered to the Food Share during opening hours (or the Church office), or simply a cash donation in an envelope with 'Food Share' written on it.

WE NEED YOUR HELP

We often find ourselves on the hunt for more sources for food (tinned goods, cereal, fruit, veg, milk, etc.) and we are relying on the community to assist us in any way they can!

Recently we held a fundraiser which greatly contributed to the running of the Food Share program, and your help does not go unnoticed!
